It's been a while since I have blogged. And yes I know lots of stupid things happened since the last time I wrote.
Recently, there has been some hoo har over the sale of alcohol in certain areas. I know lots of people touched on this. But let me give my two cent worth of thought.
I really do not know why PAS made a lot of stupid noise on the sales of alcohol. Look at this way, if you educate the people well, then you should not have a problem.
Let me give you a hypothetical story here. We have Ahmad and Ali. Both are Muslims. They are distant cousins but they live in a different country. Ahmad lives in a Muslim country where alcohol sale is permitted since there are other people besides Ahmad who wants to buy alcohol. The government in this country thinks that it is ok since they can make some extra money from the tax on alcohol. It will let the people decide what is right and what is wrong afterall they are all adults not kids (sale of alcohol to minor is still prohibited in this country). Ahmad was a well educated Muslim where he was thought what is right and what is wrong.
Ali lives in a different Muslim country where alcohol sale is banned. Of course there are smuggled alcohol that comes in once in a while from "somewhere out there". Ali was only given instructions all his life on what he should be doing and what he should not do. No reason was given. You have to follow what was told. Natually, there are people who are curious on why certain things cannot be done. In this case, for Ali, consumption of alcohol.
So one day, Ali decided to visit his cousin Ahmad. Upon arrival at the airport, there were plenty of duty free shops and some of it sold alcohol. Ali decided to get a couple of bottle to celebrate with Ahmad. He opened a bottle and consume it on the spot. "Now this is great stuff!" exclaimed Ali. By now he is all drunk. He did not know the effects of alcohol. When he reached the immigration checkpoint he was turned back and not allowed to enter the country. Ali was devasted and he consumed his last bottle on his way back. Ali passed out on his way back.
Ahmad got the new that Ali's entry to the country was denied. So he decided to make a trip and visit Ali. When he arrived, Ahmad greeted Ali. Ali said, "How come you are not drunk? There's free booze on the plane you know." Ahmad calmly replied, "Because I choose not to be drunk."
Let the people choose what they want to consume, alcohol or otherwise. PAS, educate everyone on the pitfalls of consuming alcohol instead of banning it. People still have a choice on what they want to do.

The fuss on using different language
I don't really know what is the fuss of using multiple language as a road sign in Penang. As a matter of fact, I think it is a good move. Even in China there are English road sign albeit in Pinyin.
We all know that Bahasa Malaysia is the official language of Malaysia. But that does not mean that including other languages on road sign is detrimental for the language.
If you want to take away all the other languages from the road signs, you might as well take away the signboards at KLIA. They have multiple languages. How come no one protested?
The move by Penang state is to have more tourist. If tourist cannot make sense of the road sign, how the hell are the going to recommend their friends to come again?
Those people who protested are really shallow minded indeed. You want to protest go to KLIA and all the other international airport in Malaysia. Then you can get rid of all the road signs with Jawi on it. Jawi is not the official language of Malaysia.
Remove them.

The world crumbles while they fight for the crumbs
With the world economy now in a very bad shape, the leaders of Malaysian government are now fighting against each other for a place. Sigh. That is really greed.
First and foremost, the price of petrol. While the global oil prices are now around the mid to high USD 80s, we are still paying the same price for when the price was at USD 110. Only empty promises of the price decrease. The government move swiftly whenever there are something that is bad for them but never do so when it is good for the citizens. While they are fighting, we are paying and they are making money. I am getting tired of doing the calculation now.
Secondly, the equity market is in a very bad shape now and all our ministers can do is tell us that eveything is ok. Everything is not ok. If there are no steps taken (concrete steps with proper planning), we may end up being bankrupt like Iceland. While they are fighting, the stock market continue to crash.
Thirdly, non of our university is even in the top 200 university ranking. So how does this reflect on the quality of education of the country? Maybe none. There is no quality at all. We are a whole lot of not so educated people here who thinks they are educated. No wonder they are still fighting. That's because they do not have the intellect to stop fighting and fix things.
Fourthly, while our currency continue to lost its value, we are getting poorer by the day. It may be good for the export figures. I wonder why our export figures are so good. Maybe it was because someone out there reduced the value of the RM to make the figures higher. However we are also dependent on other nations for goods. So while they are fighting, our money becomes toilet paper.
Fifth but not last, is the inflation keeps going up and economy stagnation continues. Foreign investment continues to flow out and jobless figures will go up. Maybe some of these jobless people will find a job in the public sector and government will foot the bill. But there will be less tax payers. So how much money does the government have? While they are fighting, people are suffering left, right, front, back, up and down.
The list goes on and on.
Keep fighting when you're finished, you may not have what you wanted.

The sabotage has begun (it started a long time ago)
Recently there was a Hindu temple being demolished somewhere in Ampang. You have my deepest sympathies Hindu friends.
You may wonder why the hell was the temple demolished even after the Selangor state government have expressed clearly that no temples should be demolished?
Pure and simple. It is to sabotage the PR's state government. The sabotage actually started right after the general election. Most of the PR's state will get little funding from the federal government. All the projects that was promised before the election was subsequently cancelled.
The federal government may think that they are smart by sabotaging all the PR's state but in fact they are killing themselves and Malaysia. Why can't they realize that everyone wants a fair living opportunity? Those in the federal government only knows how to protect themselves and their pockets. Anything else is out of question.
Selangor and Penang is the most industrialised state in Malaysia. They bring in income to the country. So why don't they get the fruits of their labour? They deserve it.
Perhaps it is time to impose a state tax where state can collect tax via other method such as a small tax on goods sold in the state. That way, the state can generate its own income and does not have to rely solely on the childish federal government. I am no lawyer but I think it can be done. Certain state in US impose state tax such as California. That is why until today, Calfornia is still a rich state with or without federal funding.
Sure the BN people will say that PR government cannot govern after a state tax is imposed, but it is all BN's fault right?
If the sabotage continues, then there will be no more Malaysia. More temples will be demolished, more projects will be stalled or canceled and the people are going to suffer.

I am not Stupid!
I think this title is quite suitable for all Malaysians. Every watched the movie? It was done by Singapore highlighting their interesting "kiasu" society.
How is this applied to us here? Well for starters, we are being hoodwinked by the recent ISA arrest. While everyone is focusing on the ISA arrest, we have forgotten the fundamental problems that is already at our doorstep.
With all the hoo har on the ISA being used, have we forgotten that the KLSE is dropping like a dead weight into the sea? On January the KLSE was around 1400 and even peaked to 1500. After 9 months only, it dropped from 1500 to barely more than 1000. A huge 30%+ drop.
People may say, it is the market. Everything is not doing well right now so that is normal. Yes. This is "normal" but why can't we be abnormal? Why can't the KLSE stand up against the market and be strong despite everything that is going on? A drop if 10-15% would definitely be better than 30%+.
A lot of investors are pulling out and our dear government is still in denial saying that Malaysia is still strong economically. What a load of cow dung! If Malaysia is doing well and have a future potential, why are investors pulling out? Bank Negara's statistic for August 15-29 stated that USD 1.1 Billion funds was pulled out of Malaysia. Tell me if this shows Malaysia to be an attractive investment destination.
Oh yes, someone forgot to lower the price of petrol as well. While the price of oil per barrel is going down, the price we pay at the pump is still the same. The goverment is busy making money right under our noses now that the price of oil per barrel is around USD 108-110. You can follow the calculations from my previous blogs.
And there is the "Send them to Taiwan for Holiday" project to prevent Anwar's September 16 takeover. Maybe they even asked a bomoh to make sure that there is a huricane going through Taiwan right now just to make sure that they cannot leave Taiwan too soon.
And the "Sodomy Act 2" that is really being silly. Who in the right mind would believe it? I really don't know who is the target audience.
For those detained under ISA, you have my sympathies. I really do not understand what kind of national threat you are. You're neither armed terrorist or even a terrorist mastermind. Does any of the guys arrested under ISA have link to underground arms or planning to sieze the government by blowing things to kindom come? I doubt so.
The government must not think that everyone are as stupid as they are.
I am not stupid!
We are not stupid!

We are being cheated again
For those of you who did not read my blog on how much money the government have already got in their pocket for not reducing the price of petrol, please read my previous blog.
Now again the government is taking the people as a fool. The current price of oil per barrel is steady around USD 110.00 going by the figure from Nymex.
Simple arithmetic again is applied where previously petrol price was RM 2.70 plus subsidy 0.30 comes to RM 3.00. At that time the price of petrol was USD 140 and now it is USD 110 which has USD 30.00 difference. This comes to a difference of 21% rounded down. Hence the current price of petrol should be RM 2.35 rounded down. Current petrol price is RM 2.55 so there is a difference of RM0.20. Yes the government is making money now not subsidizing fuel anymore.
We use 36,573,000 liters of petrol per day. So one day the government is making 36,573,000 x 0.20 = RM 7,314,600 a day. For convenience sake, make the figure RM 7.3 million. It will be 28 more days till the end of the month and assuming that the petrol price is stable the government will be making approximately RM 204.4 million.
If you were to follow my previous calculation, the government made RM100.8 million from mid August till before the petrol price was announced to be lower. Then after it is lowered, they are still making RM 2.9 million a day until yesterday. There were 11 days since then so the total is RM 31.9 million.
The the grand total on the money that the government is making is 204.4 + 100.8 + 31.9 = RM 337.1 million.
Not bad for not doing anything for 1 and a half month.
Why don't you be the judge?
I will have more to come as the calculation of the budget does not seem to be correct. (Surprised?)

Silly TV shows creates silly minds
I know there has been a lot of hoo har on the recent guy who talks about squatters. May he rot in pieces. Too many people have written on that so I will not waste my time on this.
Let us talk about something else. Ever wonder why the minds of the newer generation does not seem to work properly these days?
You can blame it on the TV shows on our television. Recently there are more and more silly TV shows appearing on our TV screen. Those folks who have money to pay for Astro (there seems to be no other alternative to this) are lucky since they are not bombarded with clueless half-baked TV shows.
Forget about RTM. They used to be full of good shows in the 80's and slowly became a degenerated old man who does not seem to know what kind of shows to show anymore. There is no focus at all. The Olympic coverage was poor beyond recognition. "Majulah Sukan untuk Negara" was constantly uttered by the commentator and yet we are watching half hearted effort to show Malaysians what is sports. No wonder we cannot get a gold medal. There is no effort to even promote sports by our local television.
Also all those silly local TV shows that are now appearing on prime time (e.g. from 8.30 pm onwards) by RTM is rather lame. We get sub standard local concerts that I will not consider entertainment but rather a pain to my ears and eyes. Through the years, RTM1 lost focus on what they wanted to show and so did RTM 2. That is why we get youngsters these days "lepak" here and there because they have lost focus. My theory is these two are related.
How about TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9? I think these channels are starting to lose their focus too. We get some really silly local TV dramas lately. Some of them are pretty good if there were collaboration from oversea production companies but a number of them are just pile of rubbish.
Recently, there was the Ampang Medical. Sigh. There have been many many many great medical series from US such as ER and Grey's Anatomy to name a few. It is great for the Malaysian production house to come up with a local flavour but do you have to copy the whole scenario and on top of that based the whole series on Grey's Anatomy? Where is the brain? Where is the creativity? If I were to do it, I would have focussed more on medical terms and symptoms of diseases. That way, we can educate the general public on health. Of course you can thrown in some medical love story and drama along the way but the focus is on basic medical knowledge. So at least it is educational and entertaining at the same time. But this show is plain absurb. So if the producers are reading, please take it off air and not waste time.
Then there are some really silly game shows like 1,2 Jus and Double Triple or Nothing to name is few is totally crap. The prize is crap, the host is crap and the whole execution is crap. It could have been better executed. It looks like the people in the game show is having all the fun but the fun could not be translated to the viewers. Some other game shows like Kan Cheong Kitchen and Go Go Go is better but the execution could be further improved. These are some great effort. By the way, I have given up on RTM and have not watched any of their shows for a long time now.
Let us look at some English shows and movies. Hmmm they do no really exist until after 10.30pm. Sigh, everyone have to stay up late sometimes just to catch a good movie. No wonder the standard of English in Malaysia is not up to part these days.
Basically, our local TV shows have not shown any improvement in the last few decades. Local drama still full of actress with extremely thick make-ups and scripts are all full of nonesense. Of course there are some improvements with some dramas. But most of the game shows usually will leave a bad aftertaste if you watch if for too long. No wonder pirated DVD industry is flourishing in Malaysia. And recently the TV shows are not really balanced. A lot of bad Malay drama is being showed at prime time but all the great English dramas and movies are all pushed to the late hours. It looks like there is not much of a Hindi or Tamil shows until recently some were shown in TV9.
As a multicultural country, I would appreciate some balance. I prefer some good quality drama to watch not just simply throw them on the TV because you need to get some producers or directors make a living. Make them really earn a living not just put simply anything on the TV. If you put silly shows, you get silly people.
Of course there are other additional contribution but all of you should know that by now.
